Catherine grew up in Severna Park and learned to sail on the Magothy. She opened Halyard & Lowe in 2009 with Daniel Halyard and two desks above a shop on Maryland Avenue, on the idea that a small firm could give each house the attention a large one gives its biggest.

She leads the firm's listing practice and still takes on the homes that need the most care: estates with complicated histories, family houses being sold for the first time in fifty years, and houses on Gibson Island, where she has sold more homes than anyone else at the firm.

Outside work she serves on the board of a local land trust and races a 1960s wooden sloop on Wednesday nights.
